Travel - Day One

Our team started at DFW on Thursday. Praise God! We made it through all our travel protocols and landed in Dubai late Friday night. We had a good night sleep at the hotel. Currently we are waiting for our flight to Entebbe to board. Then it’s a 90 mile bus ride (three to six hours depending on traffic) to Jinja where we will be the rest of the week. Please pray that we will move through protocols smoothly in Uganda and for continued health for our team.

  6/27 Meeting! Yesterday our Costa Rica team prepared crafts (gospel bead bracelets and felt lions), went over travel details, and got a “professional” dance tutorial for the songs we’ll be doing in worship time. We also learned the songs “Yo tengo gozo” (I’ve got the joy) and “Mi Dios es tan grande” (My God is so big). Please pray that: - All details will come together - We will get fully funded - God would continue to prepare our hearts, and the hearts of the kids at Hope Partners International to share and hear the gospel Hope Partners International Website, our blog, and the missions website is linked in our bio. Sweating and Serving Day One

 Today was our teams first day at Doulos Discovery School. We toured the beautiful campus and learned more about their unique educational model. The school grades begin at Pre K three all the way to High School Seniors (Twelfth Grade). All learning is Christ centered, hands on, bilingual (English & Spanish) learning. Fifty percent of the students are in the Sponsorship Program and the other fifty percent are tuition based. This is an incredibly unique model for DR Schools.  After our school tour, we did a cultural assimilation game very similar to the Game of Life Then we had an authentic DR lunch of pollo (chicken) with beans and rice. After lunch we got to work. Part of our team began constructing a wall in one of the classrooms while another team painted the Gaga Pit while the others moved desks, chairs & boxes in the various classrooms.
